New year goals help us:

  • evaluate our priorities,
  • monitor our progress, and
  • keep us focused in the hassle of everyday life.

So while I don’t buy into the “new year, new me” mentality, I do believe that any time we’re in a reflective, introspective mood, we should use the opportunity to reassess the direction of our lives.

This is the simple and effective 3-Goal Method I shared back in 2020.

Rather than overcomplicate the process of setting goals for yourself and abandoning them mid-year (sometimes even mid-January, if we’re being perfectly honest), I want to help you focus on just these THREE types of goals for this new year:

  1. A personal development goal
  2. A relationships goal
  3. A work goal

1. A Personal Development Goal

A personal development goal can be related to your physical, mental, emotional or spiritual health.

This could include habits like reading more books, practicing mindfulness, learning a new skill, or prioritizing self-care.

These goals help you improve and grow into the best version of yourself gradually and consistently.

2. A Relationships Goal

The quality of your life depends on the quality of your relationships. A relationship goal will help you nurture and strengthen your connections with your family and friends.

It’s easy to get so caught up in your chores, work, and home life to the point that you forget to stay in touch with people who actually mean a lot to you.

You can change that this year by improving communication with your spouse, spending more quality time with your parents, or reaching out to old friends.

3. A Work Goal

A work goal can be related to your business, career, or studies.

You can have a goal about advancing your career, improving your productivity, or gaining new professional skills. This could involve earning a certification, stepping up your time management game, or taking on a leadership role.

These work goals help you grow in your chosen field and achieve long term professional success.

What next?

Once you’ve got these basic 3 new year goals identified, you can then start to identify the smallest possible steps that you would need to do on a consistent basis to help you end the next year with much more progress than when you started off.

So what are your goals for 2025?

If you haven’t yet come up with them, download your FREE worksheet to help you write down your new year goals!

Did you know that you’re more likely to follow through with your goals if you actually write them down?
